SAUDI Nears Typhoon Jet Deal With BAE

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has advanced in a deal with BAE Systems, to buy 48 Typhoon fighter jets from the company as the KSA government signed a Memorandum of Intent with the British company on the proposed deal during the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman’s recent visit to the United Kingdom (UK).
The Government of the United Kingdom, said that a target of 65 billion pounds worth of trade and investment had been agreed during the Crown Prince’s visit.
Saudi Arabia is keen to procure these fighter jets to modernize its armed forces and develop key industrial capabilities critical to the delivery of Vision 2030.
The Eurofighter Typhoon is a twin-engine, canard-delta wing, multirole fighter. The Typhoon was designed originally as an air superiority fighterand is manufactured by a consortium of Airbus, BAE Systems and Leonardo that conducts the majority of the project through a joint holding company, Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH formed in 1986. NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency manages the project and is the prime customer.
